INSPIRING THE FUTURE OF WORK
Connecting Students with Industry Experts
(post by Cristina)
Recently, I had the pleasure of attending a valuable event hosted by Inspiring the Future and the West London Careers Hub.
The event brought together educators from West London schools with industry professionals working in a variety of creative roles across London.
The goal? To bridge the gap between education and the workplace. Industry representatives gained a deeper understanding of the needs of schools. Additionally, educators connected with volunteers and learned about valuable resources like the GLA's "Unpacking Credits" program (LINK) and the user-friendly Inspiring the Future platform that connects schools with volunteers.
It was wonderful to meet passionate volunteers eager to share their insights with the next generation. I also connected with dedicated educators constantly seeking new ways to support their students.
Here's the call to action for anyone reading this post
Industry Professionals:
Join Inspiring the Future (LINK) to become a visible resource for local schools! You can choose volunteer opportunities near your home or workplace, making it convenient to share your expertise.
By participating in this initiative, we can all play a role in shaping a future workforce equipped with the knowledge and inspiration to succeed!
Educators:
This platform is a fantastic resource to connect with industry professionals and enhance your students' career exploration. Additionally , allow me to sign post you in the direction of a project I have been a part of for a while:
Photographer Morley von Sternberg FRIBA and the National Association of Women In Construction (NAWIC) London & South East have collaborated on a project showcasing "The Image of Women in Construction." This initiative aims to challenge stereotypes and inspire future generations.
Between the 17th and 21 of June a selection of portraits will be exhibited at Buro Happold LINK and I have had the pleasure of designing the posters and presentation for it.
The project will eventually become a website that schools will be able to access in order to support their students.
